TringRugby are pleased to announce that Academy Player, Dan Fay, has been selected as one of only 12 members of the RFU National Youth Council.

Dan was selected, as one of the top 50 applicants from over 400, along with Dan Peplow, also an Academy Player, to attend an assessment day at Twickenham Stadium. The applicants took part in 3 assessment sessions covering decision making, team work and a personal interview.

“I applied as I wanted to be involved in as many areas of rugby as possible not just playing. I also feel that the way TringRugby is structured at the moment works really well and should be replicated across other teams throughout the country. I hope the role will help me develop my leadership and teamwork skills. I am also hoping it will develop my understanding of rugby as a whole and I can have a say in how rugby is structured across the country”

The National Youth Council (NYC) was established by the Rugby Football Union in September 2009 after ten young people from all over the country were selected to be its first members. With 74 per cent of participants in the game under the age of 25, the NYC was formed so the RFU could listen to the voice of young people involved in rugby union.

To be a member of the NYC you need to be aged between 16 and 24 and feeding directly into the Community Game Board via the School, College and University Sub-Committee, the National Youth Council has direct input into shaping the future of the game.
