John Ball tells us all about the last match of the season for the 1st XV.

Tring came away with the points in the last game of the season to finish a very credible 6th in the league, their highest position in the 6 seasons they have been at this level.

Tring had all the possession in the first 30 minutes but sound defence from CS Rugby ensured all Tring got was a penalty from Newton after 25 minutes. Then Tom Mellor got on the end of an excellent move to produce the overlap to go over in the corner and Tring were 8-0 up.

This spurred CS Rugby into action which produced 20 unanswered points either side of half time to a commanding 20-8 lead. Tries from Full back Houston and the prolific Jon Webber with Ben Lloyd adding the conversions as well as two penalties put Tring on the back foot. Tring Staged a comeback with the excellent Beeny sniping under the posts with Newton converting. Not to outdone McArthur replied for CS sything through the Tring defence with Lloyd converting to make it 27-18. A Newton penalty before the barnstorming Harry Green burst through the CS defence and Tring were in touching distance with 10 minutes to go at 27-25.

In the end, matters were decided with two penalty kicks. Tom Newton slotted his after 75 minutes to take Tring into the lead but Ben Lloyd had a chance to sneak it with the last kick of the match. His penalty went agonisingly close but fell the wrong side of the uprights for CS Rugby and Tring were jubilant.
