- A summary of all the great stuff in October at TRFC

Seniors News
The 1st team remain victorious and are riding high on the crest of a wave in the London North 1 league with 33 points. An excellent start to the season, with some fantastic wins both at home and away - including the momentous 90-0 annihilation of Sudbury at Cow Lane and the complete destruction of Chelmsford away, with a scoreline of 5-108. Long may it continue.

The 2nd team are rampaging through their Merit Table with several strong wins and 221 points scored, most notably their 83-3 win at home against Letchworth with Tring playing some scintillating champagne rugby. Tring’s ability to play on the game line and dominate the collisions has allowed the backs to play with a level of panache that the other teams cannot live with.

The 3rd team had a couple tough away games at the beginning of the season meeting some younger, pacier teams on the road. They have now turned this around and continued their success at home with triumphs away and now stand 2nd in the Merit 4 league table. The forwards have run some hard lines allowing the backs to cut through time after time.

The 4th team have had a run out against Chess Valley notching up a good score of 35-28, thanks to some wise old heads and much younger bodies! The 4th team will be pulling their boots on approximately once a month for a jog around the park (the wise old heads) with several tries scored resulting from a 60 metre sprint, dodging tackles left, right and centre (the younger bodies). If you would like a run out all players are welcome please contact our Director of Rugby, Mike Ward.

The Academy have received last season’s U16’s and have spent the first month getting to know each other. Their campaign started for real on Sunday 9th October when they welcomed Hadleigh in the 1st round of National Cup and sent them packing back to Suffolk with a 39-17 score and will now face Hertford in the 2nd round.

Mini & Junior News
TringRugby Minis and Juniors season has kicked into gear this month. Minis who have been training through September now enter into their festival and match fixtures in earnest. The Minis were hosted at the Henley Festival at the beginning of October and enjoyed a great day of rugby in lovely surroundings by the river Thames. They then travelled further West to the Maidenhead Festival the following week and then last weekend one of our sponsors Oakman Inns hosted a tournament for the U7-U10’s at Allianz Park whilst our Development teams travelled to OA’s. Tring teams performed admirably with successes across the board and a full set of wins in several age groups.
The mighty TringRugby Minis tour saw its first fundraising evening with their ‘Wrapping Up Summer’ party, again planning to take a swathe of the section away on another fabulous weekend later in the season. In recent years the tour has been a huge success with the entire Mini section attending en mass – look out Butlins Bognor Regis!

Juniors have also enjoyed a positive start to the season with our new additions in U13’s blazing through their first friendly fixtures against Barnet and Hertford in impressive form. Clearly the changes to the coaching setup there have really made a difference and confidence is high. The U14’s have had a 50/50 success rate winning against Harpenden but not so lucky against Cheshunt.

One of the reasons for their success can be put down to the introduction of our Junior Development Pathway. Allowing for better sharing, re-use of resources, coaches and experience it is designed to pull on senior and Academy players, coaching and knowledge throughout the club. At TringRugby we recognise the importance of providing a fertile and challenging environment through this vital part of their development whilst retaining players of all levels. Hopefully our Academy will reap the benefits in years to come. With the pitch improvement work and numbers up across the section we look forward with excitement to another great season of rugby at Tring.
