Volunteers from all sections of the club delivered a fantastic day of kids’ rugby.

Cow Lane was packed last Sunday as over 1,000 parents and players took part in the Minis Festival hosted by Tring Rugby. Over 50 teams from Harpenden, Old Albanians, St Albans, Buckingham, Aylesbury, Amersham and Chiltern and Tring took part in a fantastic day of kids’ rugby.

Such an event is a huge logistical challenge and volunteers from all over the club rallied together to make it happen. Volunteers from the M&Js ran each age group while academy parents and players manned the car parking. Many young Tring players were excited to see players from the Senior teams on hand after their excellent win the day before. With so many teams on site Martin Walters had his hands full making sure the grounds were all in great shape with so many people on site Claire and Graham Garlick and their catering team were kept busy.

Several local businesses and benefactors recognised the club’s contribution to the local community and thanks go to Pendley Manor and Oakman Inns for their support. Special thanks go to David Evans without who’s generous support the event could not have taken place.

Mark Firth - who’s hard work and dedication ensured the whole day went off brilliantly - said “It was fantastic to see so many kids from all over our region having a great day of Rugby, facilitated by our club”.

Club Chair Steve Hayes added “Seeing so many people volunteer their help - from Mini, Junior, Academy and Senior sections of the club - shows how we are all working together as One Club to give young people all the benefits that being part of a rugby team brings them”.

A win for the Colts against Bishops Stortford - giving them 2nd place in the league - rounded off a great day for the club.
