Difficult day on the road for 3's
Slow start costs Tring
Saturday saw the 3rd team hit the road for the long trek to Hertford to take on the Blackhorse.
A huge contrast from last weeks win over Biggleswade with 8 changes to the team through injury or unavailability.
It showed from the kick off with the opposition racing to a 28-0 lead within the first 20 minutes. The Blackhorse seemed a o be able to cut through the Tring line at will. The remainder of the half was a much more even contest with Tring waking up and putting in a good defensive shift. Big tackles from Dan Maxwell and Bruce Ferguson set the bar and restricted the Blackhorse to only one more try at the end of the half. 35-0
The half time break didn't seem to have the immediate effect hoped from Tring's point of view. The Blackhorse's 9 scored with the first attack of the period.
From that score Tring rallied and again seemed to switch on and make a decent contest. Good line breaks from Nick Game and Cameron Mcphail got Tring on the front foot and deep in to the opposing 22 unfortunately ending with no points.
The last 10 minutes of game was a struggle fitness wise for Tring with their opponents closing g for another 2 tries and stretching their lead.
A disappointing defeat but the team stuck at it and never gave up.
Final score 54-0
No game on 1st October.
Next 3rd team game is 7th October away to Enfield Indignations.
