Coach, Andy Lowe reports from a winning day.

We were greeted with a somewhat chilly morning at Amersham with skins and woolly hats very much out in force!

There was a new format to the games for this festival with two matches played back to back, which seemed to work well and meant that those not playing were still on the sidelines of the pitch and able to cheer the team on heartily!

Unfortunately Buckingham didn’t bring a squad, but Tring still had four very competitive fixtures against Saracens, Beaconsfield, Amersham & Chiltern and Fullerians.

We kicked off against Saracens and all the players quickly got into their stride, remembering much of their coaching and organizing themselves well. Kit and Thomas Lowe organized the lines well, both in defence and attack which resulted in some great tries from the team. George Greer started positively, again ensuring the team were in place and ready for the next play. Tring ran out 17-10 winners across both games.

Next up was Beaconsfield, and this was to prove the toughest test of the day, but some try saving tags from George Honey and a great try set up by Kit and finished off by Charlie meant we started the second game on even terms. Henry Eyles scored confidently from halfway and the team worked hard to achieve a 9-9 result in a competitive fixture.

The Amersham & Chiltern fixture again saw some great play all across the park, and in particular in the second game, with great runs by Luca (who had recently lost a tooth!) and some fabulous tagging by Thomas Lambert, seeing his father waving his crutches in approval! Another close fixture with a 15-8 win for Tring.

The final game was against Fullerians, as always Tring saved the best until last in terms of effort and team performance. The coaches were delighted to see it all come together with Tring wining 9-6 across the two games. Well done to Rishy and Ffion for the tries and tagging.
