What a great turn out on Sunday. The players seemed to thoroughly enjoy getting stuck in again, and it was great to see how keen they were to take on board the first element of the new additions for this season - the mini-scrum. It was also great to see eight newcomers / returners to the squad - welcome (back) to Tring!
Next week we will focus on mini- ruck and mini-maul, introducing both aspects of play in a controlled fashion. As rucks involve stepping over tackled players, it is vital that players all wear rugby studs. Absolutely no blades or football studs please - we will be checking studs at the start of the session, and players not complying will not be able to take part. Screw-in rugby studs can be bought at any sports shop, they will screw in to football boots, and are only a few quid.
Now a call for help / opportunity for an extra training session. On Monday 22nd Sept 6.30-7.30, the U10's are running a familiarisation session for this year's U9 coaches. Our players will demonstrate the format of the game they played last year, and I will field questions from the U9 coaches. This is part of a Knowledge Cascade which I am organising for all age groups up to U11. To make this work, we need a minimum of 14 players. PLEASE LET HELEN KNOW ASAP IF YOU CAN ATTEND. These sessions are invaluable to the development of the club, and the U11's will be doing the same for us. Thanks in advance.
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.
Mike
