- Making hay whilst the sun shines!

Summer, a time to relax; enjoy the sunshine and a few beers, whilst doing this the M&J section has also been busy organising for the new season.
- Mark Firth

A new M&J Management team is in place, with Jon Westcott heading up the junior section, Andy Yule heading up the mini section and myself overseeing the whole M&J section alongside a number of people dealing with welfare, registration, fixtures, training and numerous other areas to support our 450+ players and parents. Our pre-season started in July when we introduced weekly fitness sessions for ages 9 to 16, many weeks saw over 100 players partaking in the sessions, designed by our personal trainer Angie Lunnon that should see fitter and faster players on the pitch this season across the age groups.

Our Summer Camp in the last week in August saw over 55 experienced and new to rugby players each day at Cow Lane, coached by Ben Criddle, Chris Curry, Ben Hogan and Jonny Morgan, the kids had a great time and we expect it will result in new players across our age group this season. We are aiming to hold an Easter and Summer camp at TringRugby this season. We conducted a survey of the wonderful volunteers in our section, we have 70+ coaches plus 1st aiders and team managers; over 100 people giving so much of their time freely to teach, encourage and guide players from Cubs to under 16’s. Our thanks to all of them for all they do for TringRugby.

Our M&J section is off to see England v Samoa in the autumn, over 100 kids plus parents going, some seeing Twickenham for the first time. We have kid’s parties and volunteer Christmas party planned along with many other sectional initiatives this season including our Mini section tour where our tourcom organisers have teamed up with Sam Seaward of Gulliver’s Travels to put together a new look mini age group tour for Spring 2018.

So we look forward to a great season, we encourage everyone to come along on Sunday mornings and see how the future of TringRugby is shaping up.
