Not really a friendly

Following the cry offs in both 3s and 4s league fixtures a local derby was organised with Leighton Buzzard. This was hardly a friendly fixture, it was very physical with LB trying to punch their way into the game. Tring were the more quality side and within 10 minutes had scored after a great beak from Tom Metcalfe who continued his great tackling and running until he was sin binned at 35 minutes for retaliation to a punch thrown from the LB number 4. Both teams spent the end of the first half and beginning of the second with 14 men.
Tring dominated the scrums and in the second half scrums became uncontested when LB removed their prop who had a small head cut. Tactical substitution possibly?
The second half saw 2 more tries for Tring and 2 more conversions from Dan Boniface, who marshalled teh side well from 10 and although LB came back strong in the last 15 minutes a stout defence from Tring's back 3 of Howlings, Bowness and Farrell amongst others helped to keep a clean sheet.
Another great display from man of the match Xavier Westbrook in attack and defence was interrupted for 20 minutes when he limped off after a monstrous tackle from 2 LB mid-fielders but he was determined to finish the game on the field and came back on for the last 10 minutes making a try saving tackle in the closing minutes.
Well played everyone, a great team spirit and game, especially well done to our 3 new caps Matt Farrell, Charlie Noakes and Tim Howlings. Promising times ahead!
