Good warm up win as Tring bids farewell to Centre Chris Marandola

The 3s and 4s visited the Mount Prison to play a team made up of inmates and a few officers. Starring for the opposition was ‘Woody’ who once featured in Tring’s 1st XV.

The game was notably scrappy to begin with before Tring started to show their dominance. A return to a Tring shirt for Tom Hine at prop was a plus as was Paul Bennett, starting at Prop for the 1st time. Once the pack started to show the result was never in doubt.

Chris Marandola was playing his last game for Tring before departing to the backward land of New Zealand. His strong running at Inside centre was always a problem for the Mount. Tries started to come in the 2nd quarter with Shane graham running hard at the defence to produce opportunities which Tring took.

Youngsters Berg, Sibley and Peppiat in the back row worked hard at the breakdown as The Mounts penalty count built up. Captain Mike Strander was excellent in the line out to produce good ball for Tring’s backs.

A good warm up but the serious stuff for the 3s starts this Saturday with a league visit to Harpenden. The 4s start the week after.
