Tring competed well at the start as Letchworth couldn’t get the journey out of their system and with Tring 12-10 up with 10 mins to go of the first half and good contest looked on the cards. At this point Tring decided not to tackle for the remainder of the game and barring one penalty, Tring did not threaten again.
Letchworth have clearly been training through the summer and fielded a young, quick and very skilful side. Tring fielded several players who were playing their 1st game of the season and with several players out of position. Against good sides this is always going to be a struggle.
Paul Bennett coped admirably on the wing and at full back considering he was playing prop two weeks ago. Back 5 player, Matt Adams played in the backs for the first half and along with the rest of Trings backs found it difficult to cope with the wave of Letchworth attacks.
Notable performances from youngsters Beeney and Doodson at half back were a plus for Tring and Harry Riley has gas to burn at centre. Harry has the potential to go all the way.
