Nick Game Bags a Full House

A fantastic start to the league season was sealed with a stunning victory and performance from all 18 players involved in the match. Nick Game ran the show superbly well and was supported to great effect by all players around him. Forwards offering great lines and hard graft to secure fast ball and the backs linked up brilliantly to finish off some fantastic team play. The handling was superb and the whole team gelled well together, which was no mean feat as Tring 3's had a few new players and lots that had not played together before. During the pre-match ramble we asked for good communication and to work hard as a team and we certainly delivered. Nick was slightly unlucky not to be given man of the match after delivering a full house of points which in fact went to Danny Max for his work rate around the rucks and mauls and for stealing 4 against the head, 2 of which came when we were left with only 14 players on the pitch. This was truly a team performance and so would be unjust to single out any more players. It is fair to say that all 18 had a huge impact. Bishop Stortford were direct and hard in their running and easily outweighed Tring. But the defense was quality and some of the hits that were made would not have been out of place in the Samoa v USA game.The team worked hard to break down the Stortford defense which was also very physical and towards the end of the first half started to exploit some gaps which had opened up. A physical game was played (mostly) in a great spirit and credit must go to both teams for this. Tring worked hard and deserved the victory, with a few players off to world cup duty next week (and the skipper on holiday, booooo) there will be a few changes but with the core of this group staying together things look good. Not forgetting it is a long season though!
