Southwold won 36-0 and so we now go into the Plate, which of course was always our plan .
The final score line does not tell the whole story or even close to it.... as despite a slightly weakened side, Tring fought for every ball in every second of the game. It was a game to be proud of the lads, despite the result.
In fairness Southwold deserved the win, they came out of the blocks quickly and went 10-0 up after some poor Tring tackling and positional play, they also managed to hold on to the ball in more critical passing moves, which was like a ‘bar of soap’ on a pitch that was a mud bath.
That said the Tring pack more than held their own against a much larger side and spent much of the first half and second half camped close to their line even pushing over twice for the ball to apparently be held up...
A tough game played in terrible conditions in a good spirit. We wish Southwold well, excellent hosts and if they could improve the weather if we play them again that would be much appreciated!
Tring Man of the Match and well deserved was Big C, who along with all the forwards did a great job.
