Giles Cadge reports back from a successful trip to Oxfordshire by our Tigers squad

After a strong showing at Tring's 'A' tournament last week, the Tring U7s Tigers team headed off to Bicester pretty much unchanged even though it fell on Mother's Day.

The team faced Gosford All Blacks first and although not yet firing on all cylinders, did well with good running attacks and width in defense. The game was pretty even through out and eventually ended in an honourable 7-7 draw. Next up came the hosts Bicester and the Tigers stepped up a gear and dominated in attack, running in tries from all players with great support running and improved tagging - Tring came out 9-4 winners. The third team up were Chipping Norton again pushing the Tigers to play their best. Tring were on a roll and ran some wonderful lines to come out 5-3 winners at the tournament half way point.

The next match was key - the Gosford All Blacks rematch and as before the game was close. Tring's tagging improved and the team really worked together well supporting each other in attack and defense leading to a deserved 6-5 victory. Bicester provided a strong return match pushing the Tiger's all the way but not quite being able to overcome the fast running on a beautifully wide pitch of the Tring team with Tigers succeeding 8-6. Finally the Tiger's were determined to put everything into the last match against Chipping Norton, and with some wonderfully strong tagging, quick thinking and turnover ball tries Tring rushed off to a dominant 5-0 lead at half time. With fresh legs coming on in the second half the Tigers kept their strangle hold on the game coming away convincing 9-3 victors.

So it was, with an unbeaten Played 6, Won 5, Drawn 1 record, the Tring Tigers were crowned Champions rounding off a very enjoyable days rugby at what must be said was a very well run tournament.

My thanks must go out to Charlie Perkin for his excellent coaching support of the team, Dom Lemonde for all his hard work with the reff'ing on behalf of Tring and the Tiger's supporters club (Mums, Dads, Grandparents & friends) who made it all possible for the kids (changing plans etc).

Finally, the biggest thanks and congratulations goes to Eddie Ashton, Ollie Cadge, Benjamin Filer, Oisin Florsheim, Charlie Goodwyn, Jack Johnston, Ollie Lemonde, Ben Perkin, Harry Peterson & George Tiverton-Brown for their concentration, great play and smiling faces throughout the day making it a great Mother's Day for all.

Many thanks,
Giles
