Looking to bounce back after their loss at Sidcup the previous week, Tring welcomed Brighton to Cow Lane on Saturday. A game that promised to be evenly poised. With changes to the starting XV, Alex Harrison made a welcomed return after a shoulder injury earlier in the season.

Tring started brightly with a break from winger Ted Stanford, leading to front foot ball for scrum half Ben Hogan. His pass found a charging Dan Wilton, stepping around Brighton’s winger to score. The opposition hit back minutes later after building their first phases of the game. The fullback eventually crashing over the line. Tring were awarded a penalty and an opportunity to take back the lead, which they did through Hogan’s boot. Tring’s defence was put to the test with some excellent tackling from the forwards. Brighton were patient in attack, eventually scoring. The scoreboard now reading 10-14. Both teams exchanged penalty goals as Brighton dominated possession. Tring came to life through a Harry McCartney line break. A miss pass by Harrison and an outstanding offload from Oliver Beeny led to Charlie Goss-Lambourne scoring in the corner. Tring had the lead at half time despite little possession.

The second half began with a Tring penalty after obstruction from Brighton. Hogan continued his excellent form off the tee with a successful kick. After a dominant Tring scrum and fantastic offload from captain Olley O’Gorman, Hogan was released down the wing, eventually linking again with McCartney. The subsequent ruck led to another Tring penalty, successfully converted by Hogan. Brighton would get a try of their own after two knock on’s from the home side, taking the score to 26-21. Tring responded through another successful penalty kick before scoring an outstanding team try. A bruising carry from O’Gorman at the kick-off led to flashy hands from the backline and Stanford finishing a 50 metre individual effort under the posts to give Tring some breathing space on the scoreboard. Despite conceding two tries late on, Tring recorded another victory in front of the Cow Lane faithful.
