Tring got off to a fast start with 2 tries coming in the first 8 minutes as they raced to a 12-0 lead.
Nathan Lambden chased his own kick to open the scoring as the Civil Service backs melted in the heat. Liam Chennells got the 2nd try and conversion again with Tring backs showing their worth with quick hands and exploiting gaps in the Civil Service defence.
Chennells added a penalty before Civil Service got on the score sheet with a try of their own.
Tring forwards were winning enough ball for the backs who looked dangerous each time they got it. Despite injuries to back rowers, Radley and Warren , Justin Brown and Baldwin made more than a nuisance of themselves by slowing up the Civil Service ball. Neither lineout seemed to be functioning very well and the referee penalised several infringements. There was still time for another score, after some good work from fullback Newton, William Mataei scored and Chennells converted to make the score 22-5 at half time.
The crowd were vociferous as the Magners flowed and Ice becoming the main issue in the heat.
CS Rugby got back into the game in the 2nd half as Tring let in two soft tries through the forwards. Tring then endured about 15 minutes with 13 men due to 2 yellow cards. Even in this period Tring did not look in danger although CS Rugby came close by reducing the deficit to just 6 points at 25-19. This flattered CS Rugby but they did not give up and their main threat was through the forwards.
Both teams tired in the heat and scrums were now very even whereas CS Rugby dominated in the early stages. This enabled Tring to secure good ball and some typical Newton wizardary saw him go over and give Tring the bonus point they deserved. Tom Newton had been brilliant all day taking the game to the opposition who had no answer to his quick feet and hands. At 32-26 Tring were comfortable and Chennells rounded off a fantastic day for Trings backs by scoring his 2nd of the day which put Tring 3rd in the table with 4 wins out of 5.
Jon Lambden was naturally delighted and his beaming smile radiated around the travelling support that by this time were marinated in the cider and Ice.
The Tring team were superb in what was a difficult away game with some injuries and 2 yellow cards, the team pulled through with aplomb.
Next week sees the visit of Bishops Stortford where another big crowd is expected
