The 3’s also had their first match of the season which proved a tough test for the experimental 17 on the team sheet, coming up against an OA’s team with at least 15 replacements to utilise. OA’s drew first blood as they managed to drive over the Tring line. Tring replied with a breakaway try from Matt Boswell, who ran the length of the pitch like a Mustang off the forecourt. OA’s then took a strong lead with two converted tries. Tring found character within them to come back through tries from Gareth Haywood powering through their defensive line after some immense pressure, followed by some good build up play leading to Tommy Ward running in a beautiful try with pace and footwork. Kicking from Dan Boniface completed the comeback for the final result to be 19-19, making sure a resourceful Tring team did not leave completely empty handed. The 3rd/4th team look forward to the season ahead.
MoM – Martin Beddall, who enjoyed his new role as scrum half.
