Huel Tring Rugby U11s is the next exciting stage of the Mini Rugby journey. Players build on the foundations developed at U10 while being introduced to greater competition at the contact area, a developing scrum and kicking as a new way to play the game.

At U11s, players progress to a 2v2 contest at the ruck, while the 3v3 scrum now includes a contested strike for the ball. Players are also introduced to kicking, adding another exciting option when they scan the pitch and decide how best to attack space.

These developments are introduced safely and progressively, helping players understand not only how to perform each skill, but increasingly when and why they might use it within the game.

Players continue to develop their running, passing, catching, evasion, tackling, support and contact skills, with greater emphasis on communication, decision-making and working together.

Through small-sided games, Game Zones and Skill Zones, we want players to explore different solutions and become increasingly confident in making decisions for themselves.

What's New at U11?

2v2 RUCK – Developing teamwork at the breakdown, with players learning how to support, connect and compete safely for possession.

CONTESTED STRIKE – 3v3 SCRUM – Building on the U10 scrum, players are now introduced to contesting for possession through the strike while maintaining safe, strong and stable scrum technique.

INTRODUCTION TO KICKING – Kicking becomes another option. Players begin to explore how they can use the kick to find or create space rather than simply kicking the ball away.
