Tring travelled to Barking this weekend knowing full well that top of the table vs bottom clashes are never a given. The message was clear, be clinical, stick to your patterns and be patient.
This was heard loud and clear, and after a patient passage of play captain Jonny Morgan received the ball from a lineout and scored from a near perfect driving maul. This opened up the floodgates with Tring scoring a whopping 7 tries before the break, most notable was centre Noah Jarvis' charge from 55m breaking 5 tackles then offloading to scumhalf Rory Wood and No. 8 Max Richardsons' brilliant offload out of the tackle to winger Sam Barnes who turn on the gas from the 50m and scored.
Halftime score Barking 0 – Tring 43
With the bonus points secured the emphasis was on taking our chances during the halftime talk, it only took 3 minutes for fullback Ben Criddle to break Barking’s defence and neatly slot replacement flanker Nick Radley in under the posts.
Thus began Tring’s 13 try romp for the second half with flanker Harry McCartney scoring a brilliant solo try and another 50m run from Sam Barnes after a great lineout steal from Nick Radley.
Being critical, Tring still gave away more penalties than the coaching team would of liked and despite the score line, felt that we still left a few points on the field. However, that should not subtract from the outstanding performance from 1-18 as we prepare for our next fixture away to Hertford.
Fulltime score Barking 0 – Tring 126
MoM Sam Barnes, scoring 5 tries and with a total try score of 32, broke the London 1 try record of 31.
